Zoom Not Working for You? It Might Not Be an Outage

If the status above shows no ongoing outage but Zoom isn't loading for you, the problem is likely on your side or with your internet provider.

Common Reasons Zoom Stops Working

  • Zoom server outage affecting meetings, webinars, or the Zoom web portal independently
  • Zoom blocked by corporate or school firewall β€” Zoom needs UDP ports 8801–8802 for optimal performance
  • Outdated Zoom client failing to connect after a mandatory client update
  • Audio or video device driver issue causing Zoom to fail while the connection itself works
  • Meeting capacity reached β€” the host's plan has a participant limit

How to Fix Zoom Not Working

  1. Check status.zoom.us for any ongoing Zoom infrastructure incidents
  2. Update Zoom to the latest version β€” Zoom enforces minimum client versions for meetings
  3. For call quality issues, check that UDP ports 8801–8802 are open on your firewall; TCP 443 is the fallback
  4. Try joining via browser at zoom.us/join (no app required) if the Zoom app is failing
  5. Test your audio and video in Zoom β†’ Settings β†’ Audio/Video before the meeting
  6. If a specific meeting won't start, the host may not have started it yet or the capacity limit is reached
